Gender and STEM Network Conference

This conference aims to present empirical research and instructional practice, exploring how STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) educators, practitioners, and students form STEM identities, how these identities are formed or constrained by existing structures, and ways that instruction and educational policy can broaden conceptions of who can and could do STEM research and practice. Complimentary perspectives will address how such pathways can be facilitated at various points along students’ and young adults’ educational and occupational development.

An important aim of this conference is to extend the interdisciplinary collaboration of researchers, members of industry, and educators to move beyond results which highlight single aspects of issues raised by the study of Gender & STEM identities. C20 Summit

The C20 main objective is to facilitate a structured and sustained exchange of critical reflection and political perspectives amongst civil society in G20 countries and beyond on the G20 agenda. In the past there has been a strong focus on advancing reforms of the global finance architecture and other G20 priorities as well as demanding a paradigm shift in the political approach of the G20 towards globalization to a truly sustainable and inclusive development. As we see it today, globalization is incompatible with the objectives of sustainable development, and contributes to rising inequality and human rights violations worldwide. Civil society coming together under the C20 is thus urging a major overhaul of the political rules shaping economic and financial globalization to address the plight of the poorest and most disadvantaged members of society.

WIN Corporate Program: “Inclusion in Action: Closing the Gender Pay Gap”

Gender equality is a pressing issue and despite a huge amount of attention, the gender pay gap has in fact widened across the last 10 years. Women earn on average about 20% less than men do and increasingly, companies are being asked to go further to prove that they offer equal opportunities for compensation and advancement to both men and women.

Together we want to zero in on what the root causes of pay inequality are and what possible key actions can be taken to address this – from both an organizational and individual perspective. The ½ day program will include presentation of the latest findings including research by PwC, a presentation by the equal-pay foundation as well as a practical workshop. Networking with purpose and sharing best practices across companies will guarantee high quality learning and inspiration to action.
